THE JURY

The judging panel consists of 9 members plus the Chair Judge (total 10 judges).

  • 7 judges nominated by the JA-YE members/observers
  • 2 judges nominated by JA-YE Europe
  • Chair Judge nominated by the host organisation

The judging panel works in three groups for most of the stages of the competition. The Chair Judge chairs the overall judging process and makes sure the judging process in the three groups is the same and that the judges are following the judging criteria.

The judges are nominated by JA-YE member organisations. The privilege to nominate a judge rotates throughout Europe. For the 2012 Competition, Armenia, Moldova, Germany, France, Macedonia, Turkey, Finland, and Ireland were invited to nominate the judges.

Judges are expected to:

  • have an excellent command of both conversational and business English
  • be prepared to follow the rules as stipulated by JA-YE Europe
  • take an interest in the development of young people
  • be senior managers or successful entrepreneurs to enhance the prestige and quality of the competition
  • be familiar with the different functions of business
  • not have served in the Judging panel at the European level more than once
  • come from a JA-YE member organisation that offers the Company Programme

The Chair Judge has experience of the judging process from the European Competition in the previous years.
